Message content personalization

One of the most often used features apart from message sending itself, message personalization lets you send customized messages to reach recipient in a campaign without much effort. To start, you will need a file containing the variables, for example, phone number, name, last name, dept amount, order number or anything that's specific and necessary to your SMS batch. Then you have to insert placeholders [] in message content that will be replaced by the variable content in the recipient list. There is no limit to the number of placeholders you can use, however, there are practical limits to SMS content and length.

If you are using a file in one of the common spreadsheet or columnar formats like CSV, XLSX, XLS or ODS (OpenOffice spreadsheet), you can set and use column names as the customized placeholders.

Example:

If the message you're sending is "Hello, John! Your order number is 123131.", and you wish to personalize the names and, in the case shown here, the order numbers, you must perform the following steps:

Choose "New SMS batch";
Upload the dedicated file;
When writing the SMS, make sure that you match the column names containing the variables exactly and they are written in square brackets `[]`;
After the upload make sure to check the "Personified" box;

The first column must always containt the phone numbers and columns cannot be nameless. If a message contains text in square brackets, that is not identical to any column name in the file, it will remain unchanged.

When the necessary information is defined, click "Continue". An outbound SMS page will open, in which you can make sure if the personification is applied correctly by clicking "refresh".
